iMovie Curriculum Outline
Teacher Name: Jillian Keyes
Grade Level: 8th Grade
Curriculum Project Theme: Storybook Re-Make Stop-Motion Claymation
General Description of the Curriculum Project: The students will create a stop-motion animation using clay to convey a classic story of their choosing and give the story an alternate ending. The students will be placed into groups and will be asked to discuss and select the story they all want to re-create. The students will collaboratively write a script for their animation, create the characters out of clay, take photos using digital cameras, and edit their photos using Photoshop and iMovie. The students will be shown how to use iMovie and will create their film using their photos and appropriate music or voice-overs. The students will all show their films to the class.
Media Literacy Goals: This project will help the students understand the work that goes behind media production. The students will view how older Claymations were made and how the process has evolved. The students will get the chance to use and understand iMovie, which will motivate them to appreciate the production behind films they’ve seen and view them in an artistic way.
